The road (flight, ship, heli…) to Gough
May–September 2021
150 years ago British sealers introduced invasive mice to Gough Island, a British Overseas Territory in the Southern Atlantic. Ever since, the mice have threatened the island’s rich biodiversity, predating on seabird chicks and causing seabird populations to plummet.
The RSPB’s Gough Island Restoration Programme set out to rid the island of mice using cutting-edge conservation techniques, and protect the unique flora and fauna of Gough. The Jolly Geo was lucky enough to be involved!
